For advanced users, these preferences allow finer control of the interaction
between your CD and your computer while playing and saving CDs to RealOne
Player.
OPTION |
DESCRIPTION |
Extraction
Method |
Choose either digital or analog recording methods.
In some cases,
the RealOne Player may choose to record in Analog mode due to system limitations.
If this occurs, please see Troubleshooting.
Use Error Correction
(digital only) |
Some CD ROM drives introduce errors when reading digital
data from your CD. Use this checkbox to turn Error Correction on/off.
With this option on, the RealOne Player attempts to
correct errors, which takes extra time and can slow down the recording
process. |
Record Volume
(analog only) |
Since Analog Recording Mode records the sound directly
from your sound card, you may want to adjust the volume for best results.
Use the sliding control to adjust the volume up (right) or down (left). |
Run a CD Test... If
you are experiencing difficulties with your RealOne Player, you may want
to run a test to ensure optimal performance. Load an audio CD into your
active CD drive and click this button to run the test. |

CD Drive
Options... |
Standard |
(Recommended Setting)
Most CD-ROMs will use this category.
If you encounter difficulties playing or recording CDs
using the RealOne Player, check the documentation or check with your CD-ROM
manufacturer's technical support, to determine whether your drive is a
non-standard type. If so, you'll want to change to the proper setting
under Other type, below. |
Other Type |
Select a supported drive type from the drop-down menu. |
Automatically
Detect CD |
RealOne Player will override the Windows settings and
check for the presence of a CD in your CD-ROM drive. If a CD is present,
RealOne Player will automatically open and prompt you to record or listen
to the CD. |

Extractions Options
(Recording Options) |
Offset |
These settings allow you to offset the number of "frames"
of audio to record at the beginning and/or end of your track. Use this
option if your tracks consistently seem cut-off at the beginning or end.
Start |
Starts recording this number of frames earlier then
normal. |
End |
Stops recording this number of frames later then normal. |
Discard Beginning
|
Starts recording this number of frames after normal
beginning. |

Spin Up CD |
Select to spin a CD to full speed before recording.
Some CD-ROM drives begin extraction before the CD has fully spun up; selecting
this option provides better results in these cases. Use this option if
you are having trouble recording the first track of your CD. |
Stop recording
|
This option aborts the recording process and brings
up an error message when error correction fails. With this option off,
RealOne Player continues recording regardless of error correction. |
|
Blocks |
(Default 10) Use
this option to change the number of data "blocks" RealOne Player
extracts each time it reads the CD. |
|
Advanced
CPU Options |
Use the sliding control to allocate more (right) or less (left) computer
processing power to RealOne Player while recording your CDs.
Increasing
CPU usage may affect other applications running simultaneously, and can
have unpredictable results. Use this option at your discretion. |
