Preferences: Hardware

These preferences change how RealOne Player interacts with specific hardware devices (suchh as sound and video cards) on your system. In most cases the default settings will work correctly. Read each the description for each setting carefully before changing them.

Description

Playback Performance

RealOne Player uses this setting to optimize the performance of clip playback. Change this performance setting only if your computer seems sluggish or has problems while playing content.

Sound Card Compatibility

Modify sound card settings to overcome audio problems.

Settings...

Disable 16-bit sound: (use 8-bit only) Use this setting if you have an older sound card and clips sound scratchy or distorted.

Disable custom sampling rates: Use this setting if clips play at the wrong speed or sound scratchy or distorted.

Video Card Compatibility

Enable or disable Use optimized video display. Older cards or video drivers may not function properly if this feature is enabled. If your video is acting erratically, one suggestion is to disable the optimized video.

Note:

You will have to reboot your system after changing this selection before the change can take affect.

Full Screen

RealOne Player can actively check your system to determine the best graphic settings to use when you display video content in Full Screen view.

Select Full screen test... to let the RealOne Player test your system for compatible Full Screen resolutions. Follow the instructions and then select the size and resolution that you want to use when Full Sceen view is selected.

Expand full sceen display..: RealOne Player will attempt to adjust the resolution to allow the video image to expand to the available screen size.

Note:

To exit Full Screen view and return to your previous display size, press the Esc key.
