CD-RW is short for CD-ReWriteable or CD-ReWriter. A CD-RW drive can record music, or other data, to a CD-R or CD-RW disc. In addition, it can erase and rewrite (reuse) CD-RW discs. You can create custom CDs using the RealOne Player with a CD-RW drive, using CD-R discs (but not CD-RW discs). CD-RW drives can also play nearly any type of CD.
CD-RWs are special discs that can be ‘written’ to many times by a CD-RW drive. Because not all standard CD players can play CD-RWs, the RealOne Player only supports certain custom CDs or CD-R drives/disks.
